Finding & Winning Funding for NEET Group Activities (3242)Tuesday, 5th October 2010, Manchester City Centre OverviewAround 10% of the young people in England and Wales are NEET – not in employment, education or training. Many of these young people have few or no qualifications. Many are disaffected. Some have some real issues to solve, and others will have been in trouble with the law. White males are over-represented in the NEET group, along with young parents and those from ethnic minority groups. Young people with a physical or learning disability are twice as likely to be in the NEET group. These young people need solutions and activities that will allow them to gain qualifications, build confidence and restore motivation. Finding funding for these activities – which often have ‘soft’ outcomes – can be difficult. In this workshop participants will learn about the potential sources of funding for these activities; how to design projects that meet funding criteria; and how to put together a winning tender or funding proposal so they can then get on with the day job – helping young people to reach their potential. ContentThe workshop will begin by identifying with participants specific learning aims for the day and end by looking at the extent to which these have been met. Outstanding issues will also be explored briefly. Learning Objectives
The workshop will be both interactive and participative. Participants will work in small groups (three/four), from looking at funding sources to developing a project to meet a funding body’s requirements and finally outlining the content of a tender for that funder. Who Should Attend?Anyone that wants to find and win funding for NEET group activities will find this workshop to be useful, especially those working within third-sector organisations. Individuals may be delivering activities, managing activities or be responsible for finding income and funding for activities.
