Qualifications for trainers, FE teachers and WBL staff
General Professional Recognition Learning and Skills (England)
The GPRLS scheme is aimed at existing staff for whom an initial teacher training qualification would be inappropriate. It enables experienced staff who are already competent teachers to have their prior experience recognised and to apply for licensed practitioner status.
You can find out more at www.standardsverificationuk.org.
NTRL offer two courses; GPRLS Overview Workshop and Application Appraisal Workshop to help practitioners understand the GPRLS scheme.
GPRLS Overview Workshop
The Professional Recognition scheme is designed for experienced and competent teachers and trainers in the FE/learning and skills sector who do not hold an accepted teaching qualification but can demonstrate that they meet the new overarching professional standards for teachers in the sector.
The workshop is designed to be attended by practitioners, their mentors and referees. However, we have found that managers and HR staff will also benefit from attendance of the Workshop as it explains the process of achieving the General Professional Recognition Learning and Skills Status.
Application Appraisal Workshop
The Workshop will consist of peer-reviewed applications, tutor appraisal and action planning in relation to the set criteria. It will establish a time frame for submitting applications which includes accessing references and evidences such as observation feedback and learner evaluations.
The workshop is designed to be attended by practitioners, their mentors and referees.
